Planning Your Visit

Some half a million visitors per year come from around the country and from other parts of the world to see Shipshewana, Indiana. Many people come to participate in an auction, buying and selling, and to shop at the stores in the historic downtown. Others are here for the special festivals that take place throughout the year, and to see the enchanting lights of the Christmas season. And some visit to learn more about the Amish and Mennonites whose faith and simpler way of life holds special attraction in an age when speed and change are the hallmarks of modern-day culture.

We hope you have an enjoyable visit, whether you’re here just for the day or for an extended stay. Check the resources section of our site for accommodations and other information on things to see and do while you’re here. The Retail Merchants Association also has a very hospitable web site that will help you plan your visit.
