From the Desk of Town Manager Robert Shanahan
Hello Shipshewana, from Bob Shanahan, your Town Manager.
2020 was a trying year for all, I’m hoping and praying for a better year in 2021. The Town is pushing forward with several projects that will be of a direct benefit to both residents and visitors to the community.
Firstly,
- The completion of the Pumpkin Vine trail, from 850 West to where it will end at the Town Park,
- The much-needed repair to Berkshire Drive from State Road #5 heading East, which will include sidewalks on the North side and curb and gutter for a much-improved drainage system.
- The Town is also applying to the State for a second round of the community crossing matching grant to improve Middlebury Street heading West from State Road #5 to the Towns Corporation limits. If the Town is successful in getting the grant the construction project will be in the latter half of 2021.
It’s not going to be all construction, and no play. The Town’s hoping to be able to aid the Town’s Fire Department and Police Department in an open day festival which is planned for the later part of the summer. The aim is to help shake off what has been a terrible period for all and try to enjoy a community activity with something for everyone. The only thing we’ll need to be mindful of will be any lingering Covid-19 restrictions. Fingers crossed there won’t be any.
I would like to remind everyone that as your Town Manager my job is to help wherever I can, sometimes the answer might not be what’s hoped for, but that does not mean we shouldn’t try to meet your goal’s.
So please do not hesitate to contact me, I will be happy to meet you at your home or place of business. My contact information is listed below.
