Chad Miller, Fire Chief
Shipshewana Fire Department

The new weight room has been completed and the majority of the equipment has been moved into the room and is now ready for members of the Fire Department, Police Department, and Town employees to enjoy.  Thanks to all that helped make this project happen rather it was financially or hours worked to complete the job.

On October 15th CoAlliance LLP out of Valparaiso Indiana visited Shipshewana with their grain bin rescue simulator.  With this simulator we were able to place a person in the bin and have corn put around them up to their chest.  Firefighters then used a rescue tube and auger move the corn away from the trapped person and make a rescue.  Topeka Fire Department joined in on this training which was well worth the time.  A big thank you goes out to CoAlliance LLP, Kevin Lambright and KC Square Farms for supplying both the corn and the property to hold this training.
