Mike SutterTown Manager
Mike Sutter was appointed Town Manager in November of 2012. Mike has over 40 years of experience in the private sector, as owner of Michiana Laminated Products, Inc. of Howe, Indiana as well as two other businesses. In his public life, he has served as a Sturgis city commissioner for 8 years, a St. Joseph County (Michigan) commissioner for 8 years and a road commissioner in the same county for 2 years. Spanning over five years, he has also served as a county administrator in the Michigan counties of Sanilac and Wexford. From 2008 through October of 2012 Mike was also a member and president of the LaGrange County Regional Utility District. Mike believes that Shipshewana is the most dynamic and entrepreneurial community he has ever had an opportunity to live in and/or serve. “There is never a day goes by that some new idea, new business or new growth is not occurring in Shipshewana and that’s what makes the position so challenging and enjoyable.”
Ruth Ann DowneyClerk-Treasurer
Ruth Ann Downey was elected to the position of Clerk-Treasurer in 1989. She serves as the Chief Fiscal Officer for the town and has earned her Indiana Accredited Municipal Clerk Certification in 2005, the Certified Municipal Clerk Certification in 2011, and has gone through numerous continued education credits in her time served as the Clerk-Treasurer. She has lived in Shipshewana since 1986. While serving as Clerk-Treasurer and providing the Town with clean audits for all of her time in office she has also raised 4 children in the wonderful Town of Shipshewana.
Charity ElliottAdministrative Assistant
Charity Elliott grew up in Shipshewana, but currently lives in the Wolcottville area. She has seven children and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Management.
